Interview (MediasRes) of: Tip/Phenomena, Necatrix, Dual Crew

Handle:
Tip of Phenomena

How did you come up with your alias ?
Can't seem to remember, it seemed a short and catchy name at the time.

City / Country:
Uppsala / Sweden

Born year:
1974.

What was your first computer, and when did you get it?
A C-64, in 1985, I think.

How did you get into the scene and what groups have you been a member of ?
I got the Soundtracker not long after having bought my Amiga in 1989. I started making music almost instantly and formed a group, whose name I don't remember, with some friends in (the city of) Växjö. Later, Necatrix was formed by Mace (Pha), Color (Pha), Omega (Rebels) and me, but the four of us joined Dual Crew after some time. Then, we got to know the guys in Phenomena, whose work we all appreciated, and asked if we could join them.

What was the proudest moment in your career ?
When I entered the Eurochart, I suppose.

For what specific reason(s) do you think that you are remembered ?
For ok music and a bullying attitude.

What would you like to be remembered for ?
For friendship and some modules.

What made you stop the scene activity ? (and do you remember when?)
I think, it all petered out, as it were. School started becoming increasingly demanding and more interesting. Literature, philosophy and non-synthetical music seemed more appealing than machines.

Thinking back on the good old days, is there anything you regret?
Certain unnecessarily harsh musicdisc-scrolltexts.

What was your favorite
GAME(S)

(Battle-)Chess.

DEMO(S)
Silents' Hardwired, I think.

PROGRAMMER(S) (OR PROGRAMMING TEAM(S))
Azatoth/Phenomena.

CRACKER(S) (OR CRACKING GROUP(S))
Aucune idée.

OVERALL GROUPS :
Phenomena, or Scoopex.

COMPOSER(S)
Bruno, Walkman and Uncle Tom.

BEST COMPOSED TRACK(S)
Scream, Les putes mentales (not released)

BEST GRAPHICS
Uno/Scoopex.

EVENT(S) (E.G. COPYPARTY)
A party in Odense, Denmark, 1990 and in Porsgrunn, Norway, 1991/2 (?).

MEMORY(S)
When we released the Enigma demo, or some time when Mantronix and I managed to do a nice tune.

DRINK ?
Bajs.

What are you doing nowadays ?
Studying languages and political science in Uppsala and Stockholm. Playing in a rockgroup, too (which is to be called either "Robert Ling and the Hitlerjugends" or "Les chiens sportifs." We haven't quite decided yet.) Thinking about converting to Roman-Catholicism.

What are you doing on your spare time?
The same as above, in large. I hang out with friends, go to concerts with classical or rockmusic and read poetry.

Is there anything you'd like to say to the public (read: admires)
"A man can do what he wants, but not want what he wants." (Schopenhauer)
"Det som är boskap i dig är boskap också i andra." (Ekelöf)

What is the meaning of life?
This question is ambiguous; it could imply

1) that there is supposed to be an original of meaning of life in itself. That is to say, why is there life, why does life exist? This interpretation gives rise to two answers;

life exists either because chance or some creative deity has caused it.

Or, 2) the question may be interpreted simply as what are your personal reasons for living? Personally, I exist because I sort of like it. The eternal, unyielding god-made rollercoaster turns your belly inside out at times, but the moments in ethereal tranquility make the ride worthwhile, I suppose.

More transcendence, love, Birgitta Trotzig and Rimbaud to the people! Less asphalt.
